Holistic approach

B-WaterSmart aims to be a lighthouse project to enable water-smart societies and economies by building stronger links between the technological, societal and governance dimensions. This is done through a systemic innovation approach in Living Labs that includes but goes far beyond technology. The new water-smartness concept and assessment framework will pave the way for water services towards more sustainable and resilient systems. This approach is currently unique in the water sector and no similar solution is currently available which supports water utilities to do:

  • a comprehensive diagnosis,
  • solutions prioritization,
  • assessment of alternatives scenarios and
  • monitoring of performances,

all based on participatory co-creation of solutions by Communities of Practices (CoP’s) and collaborative work with stakeholders to develop solutions for societal, regulatory and governance issues.
