The German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) held the event „Woche der Umwelt“ on 4.-5.6. with around 12,000 participants. This year’s theme was „Together for climate neutrality“. Exciting discussions, a large exhibition, and around 190 exhibitors presented their innovative solutions for responsibly shaping change in the park of Schloss Bellevue. We are proud that we were invited to present the B-WaterSmart solutions developed by Living Lab East Frisia at this magnificent event. The Living Lab includes the partners IWW, DMK, Envirochemie GmbH, and the Oldenburgisch-Ostfriesischer Wasserverband (OOWV) and we thank Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) for inviting us.

B-WaterSmart presented at Woche der Umwelt

In addition, a local event was held in June in the city of Lohne, where citizens were presented with the results of our drinking water consumption measurements for a climate-adapted drinking water supply. The results will help us to answer the question of how drinking water needs to be stored in the future to make it safely available (even during peak loads).

Another highlight was our last CoP meeting on the 12^th of June, at which the strategic agenda for the Living Lab East Frisia was finalized. Together with regional stakeholders, this agenda sets out how our region will become water-smart by 2050.
